A Gazette notification has been issued outlining the scopes and functions of ministries under the purview of the newly appointed Cabinet of Ministers. The Gazette has been issued by President Ranil Wickremesinghe. Subjects have been allocated for several new ministries that have no ministers appointed as of yet.Ministers are yet to be appointed for the Ministries of Technology, Women, Child Affairs and Social Empowerment, Ports, Shipping and Aviation, and Investment Promotion. The fuel quota allocated for vehicles under the National Fuel Pass system has been increased, according to several registered users. The Energy Ministry had allocated a fuel quota per week for vehicles under the new fuel distribution system. Zimbabwe has launched gold coins to be sold to the public in a bid to tame inflation that has further eroded the country’s unstable currency.It has become common practice for people in Zimbabwe to acquire US Dollars from the black market as their currency struggle.Individuals and institutional buyers of Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ’s) gold coins will be required to hold them for at least 180 days before selling while exporters earning less than a million U.S. dollars will be allowed to use the surrender portion of their receipts to purchase the coins in foreign currency.

The Ministry of Health has revised the regulations pertaining to the wearing of face masks in light of the Covid-19 pandemic in Sri Lanka. The Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunaratne said it is mandatory to wear face masks during public gatherings and while indoors in public places. He further said that it is also mandatory to wear face masks when travelling on public transportation. The regulations pertaining to the wearing of face masks in Sri Lanka have been revised considering the current Covid-19 situation in the country, he added.
