Sri Lanka Cricket has agreed, in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, to dedicate the first Test match between Sri Lanka and Australia to cricket legend Shane Warne.Harin Fernando, Sri Lanka’s Minister of Tourism, announced that Cricket Australia has confirmed that Warne’s wife and family members will also attend the Warne commemorative Test match.The first Test match between the hosts and the visiting Aussies will be held on June 29th at the Galle International Cricket Ground and he was a key factor in restoring Sri Lanka Cricket following the 2004 Tsunami disaster.

Ports, Shipping and Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has instructed officials to spend about 45 percent of the food provided at the port on cashew nuts and to replace cashews in the meal.During a discussion between the Minister and the Ports Trade Unions yesterday (16th) the Minister of Trade Unions pointed out that 5000 lunches a day and 3500 dinners are prepared in the port kitchen and one meal is close to Rs. 450.The employees have also told the Minister that the port kitchen, which was built in 1976, has not been physically renovated since then. According to the latest reports released by the Meteorological Department, showers are expected in many parts of the island due to the turbulent nature of the lower atmosphere.It also states that the sky will be overcast in many parts of the island and showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Northern provinces.Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in other parts of the island during the evening or night.
