Highways Minister Dr Bandula Gunawardena said that the Port Access Elevated Highway running on the pillars is expected to be opened by the end of September next year.The minister mentioned that about 70 percent of the construction of the port entrance highway has been completed and the rest of the construction work is proceeding rapidly.Minister Dr Bandula Gunawardena said this after observing the construction work of the harbour entrance highway running on the towers. A new Bill has been submitted to the Parliament which contains provisions to prevent the imposition of tax on special merchandise without the approval of the Parliament.This has been presented as a private member’s bill by Samagi Jana Balawegaya Member of Parliament Mr. Eran Wickramaratne.
