A new Bill has been submitted to the Parliament which contains provisions to prevent the imposition of tax on special merchandise without the approval of the Parliament.
This has been presented as a private member’s bill by Samagi Jana Balawegaya Member of Parliament Mr. Eran Wickramaratne. The bill has also been gazetted.
Minister Eran Wickramaratne said that it is expected to introduce new laws regarding the imposition of taxes on special merchandise from this new bill. (Lankadeepa)
