Samagi Jana Balawega MP Harsha De Silva says that politicians should have a backbone to give subsidies to those who need them and not to those who don’t need them.
He points out that about 50% of the people who are eligible for the Samurdhi subsidy do not receive it, and 40% of the people who are currently receiving the Samurdhi subsidy are not eligible to receive it.
Speaking in Parliament today (29), Member of Parliament Harsha De Silva stated that it is wrong to give Samurdhi subsidy to people to get votes by politicians.
