The Meteorology Department has issued a severe weather advisory for heavy rain and strong winds to 12 districts.The weather advisory is in effect for a 12-hour period from 08.30 am today until 08.30 am tomorrow (3).The department said the showery and windy conditions are expected to continue in the western and southern sea areas and over the southwest quarter of the island due to the active Southwest Monsoon. The Department for Registration of Persons today introduced the issuance of birth certificates with the inclusion of the Sri Lanka Identification Number (SLIN). The initiative is being conducted together with the Registrar General’s Department as per a Cabinet decision that was taken in December 2021. The pilot project of the initiative is to be launched in the Gampaha, Dehiwala, Hanguraketha, Kurunegala, Ratnapura, and Thamankaduwa Secretariat areas.
