Two out of the five schoolchildren who went swimming at Pallekelle’s Victoria Reservoir had vanished while taking a bath. They might have drowned, according to police.
On Friday afternoon, the five students went swimming at the reservoir.
Ayesh Kumar, 13, and Suresh Umendrayan, 14, both Pallekele Janodagama residents, are the two kids who have vanished.
The five youngsters had gone swimming in the reservoir to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
The police believe the youngsters may have ingested alcohol since they found many beer cans near where they entered the sea.
A Navy dive team initiated an operation to look for the two missing students following a request from the Pallekelle Police, but no sign of them could be located until yesterday (31) afternoon due to the rapid flow of water towards the Victoria Reservoir.
