Ms. Kristalina Jogiva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, says that Sri Lanka is the best example of a country’s unsustainable borrowing. She also mentions that the political crisis that occurs when a country takes unsustainable debt is also clearly explained.
The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund stated this at a meeting held in Indonesia for G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors. It is also said that Sri Lanka is currently facing a severe shortage of essential goods.
