The Department of Meteorology says that there may be rain or thundershowers from time to time in Western, Sabaragamuwa, South and North-West provinces and Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts today (28).
The department stated that heavy rains of about 100 millimetres can be expected in some areas in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts.
In the western slopes of the central hills, in the northern, north-central and north-western provinces, Trincomalee and Hambantota districts, the winds blowing from time to time may become gusty winds between 40 and 45 kilometres per hour. Uva and eastern provinces are likely to experience scattered rain or thundershowers during the evening or night.
The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
