The Department of Meteorology says that a slight increase in rainfall is expected in the southwestern parts of the island today (27) and in the next few days. The department stated that occasional rain or thundershowers may occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa, South and North-West provinces and Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Heavy rains of about 100 mm can also be expected in some areas in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts. It is said that rain or thundershowers will occur at places in Uva and Eastern provinces during the evening or night.
The Meteorological Department requests the people to take necessary measures to reduce the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thundershowers.
