Today (20th) there will be occasional rain in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts. The Department of Meteorology says that heavy rains of more than 50 mm may occur in some places.
The department states that there may be several rainy seasons in the North-West Province and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Hambantota districts.
In Uva and Eastern Provinces, rain or thundershowers may occur at places in the evening or at night.
The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
