The Department of Meteorology says that the current rain situation on the island is expected to continue today (18) due to the influence of the Intertropical Convergence Zone. The department stated that there may be rain or thundershowers from time to time in many parts of the island.
Some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, South, Central and Uva provinces may experience heavy rains of more than 100 mm. The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
