The Department of Meteorology says that there may be rain from time to time in the southern province and Kalutara district today (15). The department stated that several rainy seasons may occur in Sabaragamuwa and North-West provinces and in Colombo, Gampaha, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Uva province and Batticaloa and Ampara districts may experience rain or thundershowers at a few places during the evening or night. Occasional gusty winds of 40 to 45 km/h can occur in the western slopes of the Central Highlands, North, North-Central and North-West Provinces, Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
