The Department of Meteorology says that due to the wave-like atmospheric disturbance, a temporary development of rainy weather conditions is expected in many parts of the island from today (14) in the next few days.
The department stated that there may be rain from time to time in Eastern and Uva provinces and Mullaitivu, Matale Polonnaruwa and Hambantota districts.
Jaffna, Vavuniya, Kilinochchi, Mannar and Anuradhapura districts may experience a few spells of rain and other areas may experience scattered showers or thundershowers after around 1.00 pm.
In Eastern, Uva, Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts, there is a possibility of heavy rain of about 100 mm in some places.
The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
