Today (June 13) Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts will experience rain or thunder from time to time and heavy rain of about 75 mm may occur in some places, says the Department of Meteorology. The department stated that there may be several periods of rain in the North-West and Central Provinces, and in the Uva Province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts in the evening or at night.
Winds blowing from time to time in the western slopes of the central hills may become gusty between 40 and 45 kilometres per hour. The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
