The Department of Meteorology says that it will rain from time to time in Eastern and Uva provinces and Matale and Polonnaruwa districts today (13). The department mentioned that several rainy seasons may occur in Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts in the Northern Province.
In Sabaragamuwa and Western Provinces and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts after 1.00 pm there will be scattered showers or thunderstorms and in some places, heavy rains of about 75 mm may occur. There is a possibility of foggy conditions in some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Uva provinces in the morning.
The Department of Meteorology urges the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
