The Department of Meteorology says that the rainy conditions in the southwestern parts of the island are expected to continue today (04). The department stated that occasional rain or thundershowers may occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa, South and North-West provinces and Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
In some areas of Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces, heavy rains of more than 75 mm can also be expected. In the Uva and Eastern Provinces and Polonnaruwa and Mullaitivu Districts, there is a possibility of scattered rain or thundershowers during the evening or night.
The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
