The Ayurveda Amendment Bill, which includes provisions related to the promotion of Ayurveda, including the granting of permission for the cultivation of Ayurvedic hemp, was passed in Parliament yesterday (5) with amendments without a vote. The Minister of State for Local Medicine Mr. Sisira Jayakodi presented the bill.
The purpose of this bill is to make provisions for providing Ayurveda registration for Ayurveda practitioners and practitioners at “NVQ Level 4” level training, revising the name of Borella Ayurveda Hospital as Ayurveda National Hospital, making the Ayurveda Department more efficient, promoting the post of Ayurveda Commissioner to Ayurveda Commissioner General, etc.
More than 20 MPs from the ruling party and the opposition spoke during the debate.
