The Department of Meteorology says that there may be occasional rain or thundershowers in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (06).
The department stated that some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Puttalam, Galle and Matara districts may experience heavy rains of more than 50 mm.
Light rains may occur in Mannar district and occasional gusty winds of 40 to 45 km/h may occur in the western slopes of the Central Hills, North-West, North and North-Central Provinces, Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
The Department of Meteorology urges the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
