Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), the biggest opposition party, and its alliance, the Samagi Jana Movement, accepted President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s invitation to the national all-party meeting yesterday. The meeting is scheduled for Friday, August 5 in Colombo (tomorrow).
According to SJB National Organizer Tissa Attanayaka, the goal of this meeting is to discuss significant issues related to the nation’s main problem—resolving the current economic crisis—in order to find solutions to the spiraling price increases of essential foods and commodity items that are negatively affecting the nation. Sajith Premadasa, the head of the SJB, is anticipated to speak with the President on the present gas and fuel scarcity as well.
He said that the Opposition Leader is also likely to bring up the extreme problems that farmers, fish farmers, goods transporters, plantation workers, and employees in related fields are going through with the President. The SJB’s main goal, according to Attanayaka, is to speak with President Wickremesinghe about the country’s unbearably high cost of living and the immediate actions that the government should take to address the pressing economic problems for the betterment of its citizens, so it is not anticipated that the SJB will bring up the topic of forming an all-party government during this crucial discussion.
