Mohan Samaranayake, the director general of the Government Information Department, stated yesterday that the decision to have just one Cabinet Spokesman was made at the first Cabinet meeting on Monday.
In order to provide information on the choices reached during the Cabinet meeting, he was speaking at a news conference held at the Government Information Department.
The Cabinet meeting is where most social, economic, and political concerns in the nation are discussed, according to Mass Media Minister Bandula Gunawardena. He was chosen to serve as the Cabinet Spokesman to communicate Cabinet decisions to the general public.
The Minister said that the Cabinet members who presented a document to the Cabinet on a contentious subject will attend the news conference to reveal the Cabinet’s decisions.
