Independent MP Jeevan Thondaman has asked members of the LGBTQ+ community to meet with the Minister of Justice to discuss issues affecting the community.
MP Jeevan Thondaman stated that he had a fruitful discussion with Minister Wijedasa Rajapakshe on a variety of topics, including those concerning the LGBTQ+ community.
“The discussion focused on matters concerning the LGBTQ Community, reforms pertaining to the Muslim Marriage and Divorce Act (MMDA), and electoral reforms with relation to the upcountry community,” he said.
MP Jeevan Thondaman also said that he had received the first copy of the proposed 21st Amendment to the Constitution.
Commenting on the discussion pertaining to the LGBTQ+ community, MP Thondaman said the Justice Minister is willing to open the floor for discussion with all who are willing to come forward.
