The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) yesterday (Jan. 25) obtained a three-hour statement from former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa regarding the obscene incidents that took place in the Galle Face area and near Temple Trees and the reasons behind it.
According to police sources, the statements were recorded at a special location in Colombo.
Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Ayesha Jinasena PC appearing for the CID made these revelations when the magisterial inquiry into the mob attack on peaceful protesters was taken up before Colombo Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage.
ASG Jinasena said several individuals including Mahinda Rajapaksa, Senior DIG Deshabandu Tennakoon, and Colombo Municipal Council member Mahinda Kahandagama have so far failed to surrender their passports to the court custody.
