Sri Lankan sprinter Yupun Abeykoon set a new world record in 10.06 seconds at the 2022 Anhalt International Athletics Championships in Germany.
While this was a new record in the 100m event in South Asia, Abeykoon also broke his own national record
Abeykoon set a new national and South Asian record in the 200m in 20.37 seconds at the Castiglione International Athletics Championships in Grosseto, Italy last week.
He surpassed the national record set by Vinoj Suranjaya Silva in 20.68 seconds in the 200m event at the national trials in April 2018.
