The police say that investigations can be carried out under the charge of robbery when the vehicles are forcibly hijacked by the personnel operated by the leasing companies due to late payment of instalments. Acting Police Media Spokesperson Senior Superintendent of Police Ruwan Gunasekara stated that a few months ago in Kandy city, a few people taking possession of a particular driver’s vehicle attacked the driver and took away the car.
The Police Media Spokesman also mentioned that if there are vehicles that have not paid their premiums, the leasing companies should inform the Police Station Commander of the concerned area about it.
He mentioned that after informing the police station commander of the area, several police officers will be provided and if there is any breach of peace during the relevant process, police officers will be provided in this way to preserve the peace.
