Sri Lanka is recommending airlines carry enough jet fuel to last return trips or fill up elsewhere, as the island grapples with a shortage of everything from oil to food due to a foreign-exchange crisis.“We’ve asked airlines to carry the required fuel while operating to Sri Lanka, because there is a shortage of aviation fuel, and we have to manage the situation,” Rayhan Wanniappa, a director of Sri Lanka’s Civil Aviation Authority, said in a phone interview Monday. “Airlines are bringing certain additional supplies, while we are also providing from our stocks.”

Another shipment of 2,500 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka this weekend, Litro Gas Lanka Limited says.The company also stated that a shipment of approximately 3,950 metric tonnes of LP gas reached the country yesterday (May 30) and that unloading commenced last evening.Accordingly, 50,000 gas cylinders will be distributed island-wide on a daily basis from today (May 31) until Friday (June 03).Meanwhile, around 60 percent or 30,000 gas cylinders are to be distributed in Colombo and Gampaha districts.

Litro Gas Lanka has announced that the distribution of domestic gas cylinders will commence tomorrow afternoon (31).The primary gas supplier said that the distribution of 50,000 domestic gas cylinders will get underway tomorrow. The distribution will include the 12.5kg, 5kg, and 2.3 kg domestic gas cylinders, it added. Consumers can obtain information on the dealer list with updated stocks which is now available on the official website of Litro Gas Lanka.
