Bharti Airtel Limited has become the second largest shareholder of Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s leading mobile phone service provider. This has been done according to an agreement between the two companies concerning Bharti Airtel Lanka. Last April, the two companies entered into a share swap agreement to give 100% of the shares of Bharti Airtel Lanka, a wholly-owned subsidiary of India’s Bharti Airtel Limited, to Dialog Axiata in exchange for the shares of Dialog Axiata PLC. The Supreme Court has issued a writ today (08) cancelling the position of State Minister Diana Gamage as a Member of Parliament. The Supreme Court has issued this writ order after hearing an appeal filed by social activist Oshala Herath. It has been decided in the cabinet meeting yesterday (06) to maintain the old fee of $50 per person for a 30-day visa when foreigners come to Sri Lanka. Also, it has been decided to implement the visa service provided free of charge to seven countries namely India, China, Russia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, the Presidential Media Division said.
