According to the police, she is a 28-year-old Maligawatta resident. Her spouse had already been detained by the CID in connection with this event. On May 9 at night in Panchikawatta, a mob of irate people attacked a DIG and this SP and burned their cars on fire. According to police, the lady who was detained also assaulted the cops and stole some gold jewelry that belonged to the SP. The policeman was unexpectedly attacked by locals while his route from Negombo to Colombo for special duty, according to the police. His official handgun was also taken by the assailants, according to the police.
