A circular has been issued for the employees of government institutions to take leave without pay to leave for foreign jobs.
It states that the provisions of this circular are applicable to public corporations, statutory bodies and state-owned companies.
According to this circular, government employees who go abroad for work are required to send a certain amount of foreign exchange to Sri Lanka every month, which is determined according to the seniority of each government official.
- Primary level officers – USD 100 per month
- Secondary level officers – USD 200 per month
- Tertiary level officers – USD 300 per month
- Senior level officers – USD 500 per month
In the meantime, it states that when the concerned employee temporarily leaves the service, only if there is a system of employing an employee on an internal basis to cover the work of that position or to see the work, the relevant leave will be considered.
