A teacher of a major school in Kurunegala who went to bribe a sum of three lakh rupees to admit a student to the advanced level was arrested by the police officers of the Commission to Investigate Bribery or Corruption in Kurunegala.
The head teacher in charge of that school’s advanced level art department was arrested yesterday (8) afternoon. The suspected teacher who demanded three lakh rupees from the student’s father to enrol a student in the high-level art department in Anuradhapura was arrested by the Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission officials when he went to collect the money in Kurunegala.
This arrest has been made according to a complaint made by the father of the student who lives in Anuradhapura. The suspect teacher has been remanded after being produced before the Kurunegala Magistrate’s Court. (Lankadeepa)
