President Ranil Wickremesinghe, as the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policy, has instructed the Treasury Secretary to provide provisions only for essential government expenses in order to maintain the public service until the state revenue situation improves.
The President’s Media Division stated that the release of funds for government activities as previously done has a negative impact on the provision of essential services to the people and is an obstacle to the recovery process of the country’s economy.
The President’s Media Division further states in a statement that President Ranil Wickremesinghe has also informed the Cabinet about this.
