Former Parliamentarian Hirunika Premachandra’s appeal against her conviction and three-year rigorous imprisonment sentence has been fixed for hearing on August 06, by the Court of Appeal today (06).

Premachandra is seeking to be acquitted and released from the sentence imposed by the Colombo High Court after she was convicted over the abduction, assault, and wrongful confinement of a young employee of a shop in Dematagoda in 2015.

Accordingly, the Court of Appeal ordered that the appeal petition be taken up for hearing on August 6, 2026.
