Yury Materiy, the Russian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, paid a visit to President Ranil Wickremesinghe today.
The Russian ambassador conveyed Vladimir Putin’s congratulations on President Wickremesinghe’s election to the Presidency during the meeting.
The Russian President emphasised his desire to further develop relations between the two countries in a letter to President Wickremesinghe.
“I am depending on your initiatives as Head of State to support further growth of constructive bilateral cooperation in many fields for the benefit of our peoples and in the interest of enhancing regional stability and security,” Russian President Vladimir Putin wrote.
