Within the next two weeks, the Criminal Investigation Department’s (CID) Illegal Assets Investigations Division may decide to freeze the property worth millions of rupees that belongs to underworld boss Makilangamuwe Sanjeeva.
He is sought in relation to a number of recent homicides and gunshots in Colombo, Gampaha, and Peliyagoda. The Police believe he escaped to Dubai and is now carrying out his organized crime from there.
The criminal’s holdings, including his cars, lands, and homes, were listed after the Illegal Assets Investigations Division looked into his assets.
About 80 infamous underworld figures are the target of investigations being conducted by the Division to freeze their assets. The majority of the Rs. 830 million worth of assets that have previously been frozen belong to Dematagoda Chaminda, the underworld boss, and are owned by 32 drug dealers.
