Two people died after four occupants in a car were brought to the Mannar hospital after becoming unwell unexpectedly.
According to the police, the party became unwell while travelling in the Uyilankulam district of Mannar early last morning.
The two deceased have been identified as a 26-year-old male and a 34-year-old woman from Talaimannar and Pesalai, respectively.
Because the killings are suspicious, the police have submitted evidence to the Mannar Magistrate’s Court and sent the remains to Jaffna Hospital for a post-mortem investigation.
According to the hospital’s Judicial Medical Officer (JMO), the two males died as a result of their excessive use of alcohol and opioids.
