The Department of Meteorology says that today (31st), there may be scattered rains or thundershowers in many parts of the island after 2:00 p.m.
The department stated that some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Uva provinces may experience heavy rains of more than 75 mm.
In the Eastern Province and Hambantota District, rain may also occur in the morning, and in some places in Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva Provinces, foggy conditions may prevail in the morning.
The Department of Meteorology urges the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
