Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera says that the proposed Electricity Sector Reform Bill was submitted to the Cabinet today.

Accordingly, posting a note on his Twitter (X) account, he states that after the Cabinet approves the proposed Electricity Sector Reform Bill, it will be gazetted and submitted to the Parliament for approval.

It is stated that through the proposed reforms, the services of the Electricity Board will be opened up and the efficiency, transparency and competitiveness will be improved to provide the opportunity for the provision of electricity services to the private sector.
