The Department of Meteorology says that today (31) there may be several periods of rain in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. The department stated that rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Ampara and Batticaloa districts during the evening or at night.
In the rest of the island, there is mainly rainless weather.
The Department of Meteorology further stated that the winds blowing from time to time in the western slopes of the Central Highlands, in the North, North-Central, South and North-West Provinces and in the Trincomalee district may become gusty winds of 40 to 45 kilometres per hour.
