The Department of Meteorology says that due to the turbulent nature of the Southeast Bay of Bengal Sea area, an increase in rainfall is expected on the island from today (30). The department mentioned that the northeast monsoon weather conditions are gradually establishing across the island.
Occasional rain or thundershowers may occur in the northern, north-central and eastern provinces, and scattered rain or thundershowers may occur in the rest of the island after 1.00 pm. Heavy rains of about 100 mm may also occur in some places in North, East, Central and Uva provinces.
The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
