Sports Minister Mr Harin Fernando advised that the State Sports Minister’s Office located at the World Trade Center should be established in the Sports Ministry Building, Colombo 7. Accordingly, Mr. Harin Fernando has told the Minister of State for Sports Mr. Rohana Dissanayake to use the office room allotted to him in the Ministry of Sports.
Since he is also the Minister of Tourism, Sports Minister Harin Fernando has also informed the Secretary of the Ministry of Sports that he will carry out the relevant duties from that Ministry. Minister Harin Fernando said that this decision was taken because the office of the State Minister of Sports, which was run on the basis of rent at the World Trade Center, costs about 42 lakh rupees per month.
The Sports Minister also informed to credit the Sports Development Fund with nearly five crore rupees saved per year after the establishment of the State Sports Ministry Building in the Sports Ministry Building, Colombo 7.
