The Department of Meteorology says there may be several periods of rain in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. In Ampara and Batticaloa districts, rain or thundershowers may occur at a few places in the evening or at night, while the rest of the island will be mainly without rain.
The Department of Meteorology has further informed that in the western slopes of the central mountains, in the northern and north-central provinces, in Monaragala, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts, the winds blowing from time to time may become strong winds between 40 and 45 kilometres per hour. The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
