The Department of Meteorology says that rain may occur from time to time in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts today (19). It is said that some rains may occur in the North-West Province and the rest of the island will have mainly rainless weather conditions.
The Department of Meteorology has further informed that the winds blowing from time to time in the western slopes of the Central Hills, North, North-Central and North-West provinces, Monaragala, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts can become strong winds between 40 and 45 kilometres per hour.
The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
