The Department of Meteorology says that a slight increase in rainfall is expected on the island today. The department stated that there may be several rainy seasons in Eastern and Uva provinces and Polonnaruwa and Matale districts.
Western, Sabaragamuwa, South and North-West provinces and Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts may experience rain or thundershowers at some places in the evening or at night. In Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces and in Galle and Matara districts, there is a possibility of heavy rains of more than 50 mm.
The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
