The Department of Meteorology says that on today (18), there may be some rains in Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Galle and Matara districts. The department stated that in Uva province and Ampara and Batticaloa districts, rain or thundershowers may occur in a few places in the evening or at night.
The Department of Meteorology has further informed that the winds blowing from time to time in the western slopes of the Central Hills, North, North-Central and North-West provinces, Monaragala, Hambantota and Trincomalee districts can become strong winds between 40 and 45 kilometres per hour.
The Department of Meteorology urges individuals to take the required precautions to reduce the risks brought on by storm-related lightning and transient high winds.
