The Department of Meteorology says that rain or thundershowers may occur in many parts of the island today (16) after 2:00 p.m. The department stated that some places in Uva, Eastern, Northern and North Central provinces may experience heavy rains of more than 50 mm.
In the coastal areas of the Western and Southern Provinces, some rain may occur in the morning, and in some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces, foggy conditions may prevail in the morning. The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
