The Department of Meteorology says that an increase in rain conditions is expected in the southwestern parts of the island from today (03) in the next few days. The department stated that occasional rain or thundershowers may occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa, South and North-West provinces and Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
In some areas of Western Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces, heavy rains of more than 75 mm can also be expected. There is a possibility of isolated rain or thundershowers in the rest of the areas, especially in the Eastern and Uva provinces during the evening or night.
The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
