The Department of Meteorology says that the rainy conditions in the southwestern part of the island are expected to continue today (01). The department stated that there will be occasional rains in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, South, Central and North-Western provinces and in some places in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and Galle and Matara districts, there may be heavy rains of more than 100 mm.
Eastern and Uva provinces and Polonnaruwa, Vavunia and Mullativu districts may experience scattered showers or thunderstorms during the evening or night. The Department of Meteorology requests the people to take necessary measures to minimize the dangers caused by temporary strong winds and lightning that may occur with thunderstorms.
