The Supreme Court has ruled to dismiss a fundamental rights petition filed requesting an order to revoke Acting President Ranil Wickremesinghe’s position as a Member of Parliament.
This order has been given by the three-member Supreme Court bench comprising of Gamini Amarasekara, Shiran Gunaratne and Janak de Silva.
The petition was submitted by Mr. Nagananda Kodithuvakku, the secretary of the Praideh Peramuna.
Announcing the verdict, the bench noted that the petition was rejected by accepting the objections presented by the lawyers who appeared for the respondent.
