The Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries Mahinda Amaraweera said that the final draft of the National Agriculture Policy has been submitted to the Cabinet. The minister said this when the representatives of the Centre for Policy Alternatives met with the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industry Mr Mahinda Amaraweera to present their proposals to the National Agriculture Policy.
The minister mentioned that the country needs a national agriculture policy that does not change when the government changes or the minister changes, so the agriculture policy was formulated quickly.
The Minister said that the final draft of the National Agriculture Policy, which is currently submitted to the Cabinet, will be submitted for Parliament’s approval after receiving the approval of the Cabinet. The Minister informed the Centre for Policy Alternatives that there is a possibility to include the proposals presented by the National Alternative Policy Center as an attachment.
