The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has put in place a system whereby fuel may be purchased for dollars on a first-come, first-served basis.
As a result, the CPC has begun accepting registrations for priority consumer facilities to purchase petroleum in US dollars.
The applications were available for download at the CPC website (www.ceypetco.gov.lk).
The CPC has set 12 conditions that must be met by the application for the USD payment procedure, as well as infrastructural requirements that must be met by the applicant.
Individuals or organizations must have a registered business in Sri Lanka and export proceedings in order to register for this fuel supply facility.
Only Auto Diesel, industrial kerosene, and Lanka Fuel Oil will be available for purchase in US dollars.
Applicants must make a payment for at least two months, with the minimum payment covering at least two 6,600 loads.
If the buyer only pays for two 6,600 loads, one load will be delivered in the first month and the second load will be supplied the following month.
Completed applications should be turned over to the CPC after erecting tanks, together with a request letter, business registration, and documents to establish export operations, according to the CPC.
